Identity cannot be had at mercy: NCP Chair Dahal

Dhadingbeshi : Former Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has asserted that any member of the indigenous nationalities community could not get their identity at mercy. 

At a Lhosar celebration organized by Li:La Phang (Ghale Samaj) Central Committee at Dhadingbesi in Dhading today, leader Dahal assured that he will make utmost effort to enlist Ghale caste in the list of indigenous community. 

There are currently 125 ethnic groups reported in the country in the census 2011. 

He also admitted his weakness for advancing the cause of the Ghales who have their own unique culture, tradition, language and dress to be enlisted in the list of indigenous community. 

Similarly, former Minister for Home Affairs Buddhiman Tamang said that although it is said that Ghale Kings ruled in various states in the past but it was not to be found in written form in the historical archives. 

Ghale spoke of the need for the Ghales to be active in preserving their identity. 

On the occasion, Ghale cuisines were served to the participants which comprises guests from 16 countries and local guests from 36 districts including leader Dahal in a plate and bowl made out of tree leaves. 

A cultural procession was organized at local Puchhar Bajar which ended up as an assembly at Khulamanch.
