Bus plunges into Sunkoshi: one dead, seven rescued alive

Sindhuli : A passenger bus skidded off the road and plunged into the Sunkoshi River today at Sunkoshi rural municipality-5 in Sindhuli along the BP Highway. 

One has been killed in the accident while seven have been rescued alive. Further details are awaited. The dead has been identified as Rabi Bhandari, 29, of Sunkoshi rural municipality-8, Sindhupalchowk, police said. 

Until the filing of this report, rescue operations at the accident site are underway. The accident involving a bus of Super Basuki Travels (Na 6 Kha 912) en route to Kathmandu from Marin rural municipality of Sindhuli happened near the Ritthe cliff. 

According to local Min Shrestha, a dead body was pulled from the river and the seven rescued with the help of locals and the injured have been sent to Dhulikhel for treatment. 

District Police Office Sindhuli's superintendent of police, Rameshwor Yadav, confirmed the death of one in the accident and the rescue of the seven. Among the injured, four are said to be critical.
