Lack of human resource at local level hinders public service.

kathmandu: The crunch of human resources at Mai municipality in the district has badly affected the public service. 

Against the quota of 59 employees, there are only nine employees managing the office. Due to not having allocated number of employees, the ward secretary is bound to discharge the duty even of a veterinary.

Municipality Mayor Dipak Kumar Thebe said sub overseers are working as secretaries in three ward offices. A single staff is burdened with numerous responsibilities. 

Deputy Mayor Bishnu Maya Rimal said, “Severe crunch of employees has hit hard the services. An employee is bound to work for three offices. There is no source either at local level to appoint new staffs.” 

According to her, as per the allocation of quota, there needs to have 59 employees at the municipality, but only nine employees are running various ward offices under the municipality. 

Mayor Thebe said account officer is working as the chief administrative officer. It has hampered municipality’s economic and administrative works and the public service, he added. The Mayor however said 11 office assistant were appointed recently, but no financial resource to add more.
