Community support must for peace, stability: Home Minister Thapa

Kathmandu: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has said community participation was must for peace and stability. 

During an interaction organized at Police Headquarters today, Home Minister Thapa said the robust coordination among three tiers of government and cooperation from the community could boost nation’s peace and good governance. 

“Coordination is must to curb crime,” he said, adding that community-police partnership could be fruitful to this end. 

According to the Home Minister, stability and development are not possible without good governance and security. Ample budget was required to the security sector, he asserted. 

On the occasion, Ministry Secretary Prem Kumar Rai said if the campaign brought forth by the Nepal Police was implemented effectively, it would help ensure peace and security in the country. 

National Planning Commission member Min Bahadur Shahi assured that the police’s campaign would be incorporated in the 15th plan.

 Another member Dr Krishna Prasad Oli said environmental problems and cyber crimes were growing as challenges.
