Kathmandu, 2 Nov – Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet has asserted that Nepal should learn from the development of China.Speaking at the inauguration of the China South Asia Expo jointly organized by China South Asia Expo Secretariat, Yunan International Exposition Affairs Bureau and Nepal-China Executive Council at the Exhibition Hall in the capital today, Minister Basnet stated that such event would help promote Nepal’s trade and commerce.Basnet said, “At the time of increasing trade deficit in Nepal, such an event would significantly contribute to the Nepal’s economic development.”Stating that the local level elections were held following the promulgation of the constitution and pressing for the need to usher the country towards economic development upon holding the elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies, he urged the Chinese entrepreneurs and investors to consider investment in Nepal.Basnet admitted that there was no favorable environment for investment in Nepal in the past due to political instability but the country, the Minister assured, was achieving political stability through the elections at various level.Nepal-China Executive Council Chairperson Anupranjan Bhattarai said that the event would be useful for the investors and businesspersons of Nepal and such an event would be organized in various places in Nepal.China South Asia Expo Executive Committee Chief Gao Shuxun asserted that Expo as such would further bolster the tie trade, cultural, economic and social ties between the two countries.This is the first time the Expo is being held in Nepal. It will run through November 5.There are a total of 150 stalls showcasing goods and services by the companies both from Nepal and China such as energy, investment, electronic and information technology, bio pharmaceutical, tea productions, handicrafts, ethnic costumes, food processing machines, food packing machines and so on.
