Kathmandu,7 Oct : CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today said his party was not in favour of toppling the incumbent coalition government led by the Nepali Congress.”Leftist alliance and its unification is different matter. The government was formed with an objective to implement the new constitution. The focus at present is on holding the House of Representatives and State Assemblies elections. We all want elections,” said the former prime minister while addressing the Maoist Centre’s parliamentary party meeting at Singha Durbar. On a different note, he said the alliance aims at fulfilling historic and national responsibility. “We have forged an electoral alliance with the UML, and announced party unification after the polls. The effort aims to form a single communist centre. This will not affect the incumbent government however. We do not want to affect the polls by means of ousting the government,” he said. The Maoist Centre was ready however to leave the government if forced to do so, he said.At the meeting, some party lawmakers asked Dahal about the need for forging an alliance with the UML without first discussing ideological grounds between the two parties.Meanwhile, the Maoist Centre has called for a party politburo meeting today to discuss the unification of the leftist alliance, and preparations for the upcoming elections. The venue for the meeting will be at City Hall. RSS
