Taskforce submits its report in NCP Secretariat meeting

Kathmandu : A taskforce formed for the organizational unification of Nepal Communist Party Nepal (NCP) has submitted its report in today's meeting of the party's Secretariat.

A standing committee meeting held on December 27, 2018, had formed a nine-member taskforce under coordination of Secretariat member Ram Bahadur Thapa. The report prepared by the taskforce was submitted in the Secretariat meeting held at the official residence of the Prime Minister, Baluwatar.

NCP Spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha said that discussion has begun on the report submitted by the taskforce.

He said, "The next Secretariat meeting is scheduled on February 21 by continuing discussion on the report of the taskforce.

Some leaders said that although discussion was held for long in the taskforce regarding organizational unification, no consensus was reached on some issues.

Spokesperson Shrestha said a joint meeting of the Secretariat comprising all members of the taskforce would be held on February 21 and necessary policy and decision would be taken regarding settling the issues of organizational unity.

Although the Secretariat, standing committee, central committee and provincial committee have been formed after the unification between the then CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist), issues related to district and inline organisations are yet to be settled.

It is expected that the joint meeting would finalize all the issues related to party unification.

Talking to media persons following the meeting, Spokesperson Shrestha said the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has been the victim of absolute protest.

The party should leave the culture of just protesting the government every activity instead of becoming its critical instead. He took a time to claim that the NC which indentified itself as a democratic force failed to manifest the democratic characters as the main opposition. "The government has the two-third majority and the NC expecting that the government should act as per its desire is the main problem of it."

According to him, the people's mandate is the driving force for the government and the main opposition is supposed to do a role of watchdog of the government performance keeping itself connected to the people, but this is not happening in the current time.

He pledged to make the government activities more effective and result-oriented and dedicate towards the implement of the government policy and programme. "The prime need of the hour is to build a prosperous Nepal with guarantee of social justice."
